This program addresses individuals with a technical orientation, including college graduates from other fields or already working in a different area of Information Technology (IT), interested in a career that provides technical support of a computer network. This program provides students with specific technical competencies for entry-level employment opportunities as a network support specialist. Their duties include managing an organization’s servers and desktop and mobile equipment, ensuring data storage networks work properly and ensuring employee workstations are working efficiently when connected to a computer network. Students interested in later obtaining industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ and CIsco CCNA can benefit from the knowledge and skills provided by this program.

Install, configure, and maintain an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
