Take your passion for developing a plan, solving problems and working with your hands into a career in metal fabrication with a one-year technical diploma from Moraine Park Technical College. In Moraine Park’s hands-on metal fabrication courses, students learn how to build metal products from start to finish, read prints and use lean practices in automated cutting, forming and welding. Students also learn gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW); and laser, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting. Upon completion, students are prepared to take the FMA Fundamentals of Metal Fabrication Certificate exam.

Sheet Metal Workers
Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; or inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. Includes sheet metal duct installers who install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.
