The Welding Technology program is designed to prepare students for the high-demand field of welding. Welders work with aluminum, stainless steel, and mild metals in manufacturing, oil fields, product design, farming, and ranching. Beginning welders may work on assembly lines but can advance to precision welders, quality control, and sales. Many welders decide to start their own business with specialties in areas like underwater welding, decorative metalwork, and automotive welding. North Texas welders can expect to earn between $12 and $20 per hour, based on experience and welding skill. Curriculum includes:

• Hands-on training in multiple welding processes including Oxy-Fuel and Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc, and Flux Cored Arc.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation of codes for welders.
• Students are required to pass two welding tests for each process. Successful students can then receive a qualification for that process. The tests given are common welding tests used by industry to qualify welders for employment. The welding program at NCTC is designed to provide highly qualified employees to meet the needs of the most demanding employer.
