Bookkeeping - Certificate of Proficiency
at Cuyahoga Community College
Cleveland Catalog
The Bookkeeping - Certificate of Proficiency prepares students for entry-level employment as bookkeeping clerks. At some small businesses, the bookkeeping function is part of a job called “Office Manager.” Bookkeepers are responsible for initiating basic purchase transactions and analyzing the source documents of other transactions. Bookkeepers then record the effect of these transactions using accounting software. This one-year certificate program is designed to accommodate those who are employed full-time or are attending college on a part-time basis, seeking to upgrade their existing employment skills or begin a job as a bookkeeper or office manager for a small to medium-sized business. Students may apply all credits earned in the Bookkeeping - Certificate of Proficiency toward an Associate of Applied Business degree in Accounting.
