The Cleveland Heights Police Academy exceeds the minimum OPOTC requirement of 740 curriculum hours. Classes will be scheduled from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) scheduled for each Academy Platoon during the Driving portion of instruction. The tuition for The Cleveland Heights Police Academy is $6,000. The tuition includes all required ammunition, books, classroom materials, uniform attire consisting of Cleveland Heights Police Academy uniform, physical conditioning clothing, hat, and equipment bag. Students must provide their own Law enforcement shoes/boots, flashlight and flashlight holder for the Academy. The student will also be provided with the following items that will be returned at the end of the Academy; a duty belt, holster, magazine pouch, handcuffs, handcuff case and a blue/red rubber training handgun. The student will also be issued a firearm during the Firearms portion of the curriculum and it will be returned upon completion of that topic. Eye and ear protection will also be provided during the firearms portion of the Academy.
