at Carroll Community College
Baltimore Catalog
In our HVACR Apprenticeship workforce training program, you can work full-time while attending classes and achieve journeyman status in just 4 years. With previous experience or education, you may be able to skip the 1st year by passing an exam. HVACR apprentices are tradesmen specializing in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration systems. Work may include installing, servicing, and repairing heating and air conditioning systems in residences and commercial establishments. Apprentices usually begin by assisting experienced technicians with such tasks as carrying materials, insulating refrigerant lines, or cleaning furnaces. In time, they move on to more difficult tasks such as cutting and soldering pipes and checking electrical and electronic circuits.
