Prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions. Topics include instrument identification, equipment maintenance, tooth structure and oral cavity anatomy, dental anesthesia, sterilization, and charting. Also, learn the steps necessary to assist the dentist while providing quality dental care within the community. Overview of tooth charting, restorations, bitewing, bridge implants, pano-graph, and periapical x-ray, and the mixing of dental cement are covered as well.

Dental Assistants
Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.

- TUBERCULIN SKIN TEST (TB) -Negative reading within 12 months of course completion date or chest x-ray ADDITIONAL HEALTHCARE REQUIREMENTS

- HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, HSE/GED OR COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT – Unofficial copy can be uploaded
- DRIVER'S LICENSE OR GOVERNMENT PHOTO ID - Must be valid
- SOCIAL SECURITY CARD – Must be signed
- CPR - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) CERTIFICATION MUST BE FROM AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION will be included with the program
- SATISFACTORY CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK – Completed form to be processed by WC
