What Is A Community Health Worker? A community health worker (CHW) is a frontline public health professional who serves as a bridge between communities and healthcare services, providing education, outreach, and advocacy to improve community well-being and access to quality care. The 12-week course is available through Moodle, a global learning management system built for distance learning. Students will navigate through each didactic module, which consists of relevant readings, videos, discussion board assignments, case studies, and assessments to help them prepare for careers as community health workers, health advocacy or other similarly skilled careers. Students can also utilize the training as an introduction to healthcare.

Community Health Workers
Promote health within a community by assisting individuals to adopt healthy behaviors. Serve as an advocate for the health needs of individuals by assisting community residents in effectively communicating with healthcare providers or social service agencies. Act as liaison or advocate and implement programs that promote, maintain, and improve individual and overall community health. May deliver health-related preventive services such as blood pressure, glaucoma, and hearing screenings. May collect data to help identify community health needs.
