The Plumber protects the health and safety of the community by removing wastewater and providing pure water to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings for drinking, cooking, washing, cleaning, manufacturing, and personal use. Each year in the apprenticeship program consists of 1760 hours of on-the-job training under the direct supervision of a Journeyperson. Apprentices spend two evenings per week in class with a traditional summer break. During class, students are taught science, theory, and practical application of the trade. They also learn to install all piping and plumbing fixtures in accordance with local plumbing codes and Board of Health requirements.

Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems. Includes sprinkler fitters.
