The HVACR Service Mechanic ensures indoor air quality by servicing and repairing all types of refrigeration equipment. From small buildings to larger, complex air conditioning and refrigeration units used in hospitals, skyscrapers, manufacturing facilities, and research and development laboratories, the HVACR Mechanic maintains comfortable and safe indoor environments. Each year in the apprenticeship program consists of 1760 hours of on-the-job training under the direct supervision of a Journeyperson. Apprentices spend two evenings per week in class with a traditional summer break. During class, students are taught science, theory, and practical application of the trade.
