The Vocational Nursing Program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to award the Certification of Completion in Vocational Nursing. The affordable one-year program admits new students each fall and spring semester. The program is offered on the main campus in San Antonio either day or evening. To obtain the best learning experiences, students may be required to attend class, lab, or clinical in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and surrounding areas based on class size, availability of clinical sites, etc. Due to the full-time requirement of attending classes and clinical rotations (based on 40 40-hour/week schedule), it is advisable to limit full-time employment while enrolled in the program. Admissions
In order to fulfill the clinical requirements, students are required to attend clinical rotations in San Antonio and its surrounding areas including but not limited to New Braunfels, Seguin, and San Marcos in a variety of public and private health care settings. Transportation to and from hospitals and other assigned medical facilities is the responsibility of the student. Students should be prepared to travel to any facility deemed appropriate to meet course objectives.
