With an increasing population and need for more housing, well-trained carpenters are in high demand in the areas of urban redevelopment; commercial and industrial buildings. With a Carpentry degree from SCTCC, graduates put their skills to work in residential construction, light and heavy commercial construction, highway and heavy bridgework, cabinetry, and millwork. Students who graduate from our Carpentry program are prepared to enter the construction industry as skilled tradespeople.

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
