The program is designed to be completed in three semesters when taken on a full-time basis. Students should complete the program within the specified timeframe. Admission to the Medical Assistant Technology Program requires written acceptance by the Medical Assistant Program Director according to the admission requirements listed on the Medical Assistant Technology Program application packet. Students may elect to complete some or all of the general education course requirements prior to being admitted into the Medical Assistant Technology Program.

Medical Assistants
Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

Admissions
Continuation in the Medical Assistant Technology Program requires a minimum grade of "C" in MAST/ALTH courses, a minimum grade of "C" in all other required courses and a minimum cumulative and most current completed term grade point average of 2.4 to participate in the practicum experience. There is a time limit on completion of program requirements. Algebra and biology courses should have been completed within the past five years or updating courses is required.
