The Building Trades and Construction Design Technology program is designed to prepare students for employment in the residential and commercial construction industry. The content includes, but is not limited to: applying construction techniques; reading plans and specifications; and developing trade skills in carpentry, masonry, electricity, plumbing and air conditioning. The curriculum integration of theory and practice provides students with fundamental entry-level skills necessary for the construction industry.

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
