The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as dental assistants and dental auxiliaries. The program meets all competencies required by the Florida Department of Education for Dental Assistants. Graduates are eligible for employment as dental assistants with expanded functions and radiography skills. Proof of professional liability insurance is also required. The Dental Assisting (PSVC-DA) program admits students once a year in May. Applications are accepted year-round. Applicants who meet the criteria are admitted for the next available start term.

Dental Assistants
Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.

Admissions
- PHSC general application with a $25 non-refundable fee for new students or a PHSC Readmission application for returning PHSC students not enrolled for more than 3 consecutive terms.
- Certificate in Dental Assisting application.
- Copy of receipt of payment of the $25 non-refundable limited access application fee payable at college store.
- Official high school transcript with graduation date indicating receipt of a standard high school diploma or an official transcript of GED scores indicating receipt of a high school equivalency diploma, if not already submitted.
- Official transcripts from each U.S. College and university attended other than PHSC.
- A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
