at Operation Fresh Start

The Operation Fresh Start Build Academy is a full-time, hands-on, paid training program for ages 18–24. Build Academy members work 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 4 pm. Crew members must provide their own professional work attire. Operation Fresh Start will provide the necessary tools and equipment. A Social Security card and government photo ID are required before date of hire. OFS staff are ready to assist in acquiring these forms of documentation. No prior construction experience is required. You will get paid to train on various construction projects, with placement on a Tier 1 or Tier 2 crew based on your experience level.

Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
