Phlebotomists are prepared to perform various blood collection procedures in adults and children by venipuncture or micro techniques. They are important laboratory team members who demonstrate good communication skills and ethical behavior for effective interaction with patients and their families. The curriculum includes courses in the areas of communication, healthcare information systems, medical terminology, ethics for healthcare personnel, and the core phlebotomy didactic and clinical courses. Course delivery modes include Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and other tools. Simulations, laboratory activities, and clinical training will provide proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
