The Carpentry Apprenticeship program offered by the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters provides hands-on training and technical education for individuals pursuing a career in carpentry. Apprentices will learn to construct a variety of structures, including residential homes, office buildings, factories, and sports stadiums. Program Overview This apprenticeship prepares participants with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in carpentry. Through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training, apprentices will gain expertise in areas such as framing, finishing, and large-scale construction. Work Environment Carpenters have the flexibility to work in various environments, depending on their specialization. Interior finish carpenters primarily work indoors, focusing on fine details and finishing touches. Meanwhile, those involved in bridge and large complex construction will work predominantly outdoors, contributing to major infrastructure projects. This program is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and creating lasting structures that shape communities.
Application process 1. Contact the nearest Training center to provide ACT or Next Gen Score OR make an appointment for testing. 2. Once you provide the documentation to the Training Center and meet the requirements, your Joint Apprenticeship Committee will provide you with instructions on how to proceed. 3. Locate an employer to hire you as an Apprentice. We can help with this! 4. Meet the Joint Apprenticeship Committee and sign your Apprenticeship Contract with the State of Wisconsin, Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards. 5. Begin work and school as soon as scheduled for you.

Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
