City Tech works in concert with the New York City Housing Authority, Affordable Housing Developers, and Local Unions to provide construction skills training and placement services. The program promotes training that results in long-term employment, improved lives for participants and their families, and improved housing for residents of New York City. This program offers a free, full-time, and intensive 8-week program that provides participants with knowledge of the building trades and the opportunity to earn industry certificates including OSHA 10-hour and Supported Scaffolding as well as hands-on training in Sustainable Building and Blueprint Reading.

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.

Admissions
To qualify for training, you must:
- Be an NYCHA resident on the lease or a Section 8 tenant
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have valid working documentation
- Be able to work for 8 hours on your feet
- Be able to pass a drug test
- Be able to pass the TABE test at a 80% reading/math level
- Have a High School Diploma, or GED
