This 36-week certificate program provides extensive training in properly coding services using CPT and HCPCS procedures and treatments, ICD-10-CM for diagnoses, preparing and sending invoices or claims for payment, correcting rejected claims, tracking payments, and following up with patients and insurance companies about outstanding bills. The coder must carefully read the doctor’s and nurse’s notes to determine the services received by the patient precisely. They must also understand private payer policies and government regulations for accurate coding and billing Students will learn in-depth use of coding guidelines from the three medical coding books.
