The Vocational Nurse course prepares the qualified individual to perform basic nursing care in the health care facility. Instruction includes both classroom and clinical training with an emphasis on the nursing process and the relationship to patient care procedures, infection control, and medication administration. The integrated curriculum includes anatomy and physiology, growth and development, and pathology as it relates to the health care needs of patients. Students receive clinical training in health care facilities.

Care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. May work under the supervision of a registered nurse. Licensing required.
