By fulfilling the program requirements, students will have the necessary knowledge and skills for a career as a Carpenter in the Construction or Maintenance arena. The construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials, working from blueprints, layout, measuring, marking, and arranging materials in accordance with local building codes, cutting and shaping wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall using hand and power tools, joining materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives are some of the skills that will be mastered during this program. A Certificate of Achievement in Carpentry-Construction Technologies may be earned by completing 40 units of Required Courses and 8 units of Major Electives listed under the Associate degree in Carpentry Construction Technologies with a "C" or better in each course

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
