The practical nursing certificate program prepares the student for a technical career in nursing and is approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing. It includes one semester of prerequisite coursework and three semesters of practical nursing coursework for the full-time generic student. Employment opportunities include acute care hospitals, long-term acute care and extended care facilities, clinics, offices, home health, and ambulatory care. Graduates may be eligible to continue to pursue a license as a Registered Nurse with the LPN to RN program track. The nursing department and academic counselors will assist students with degree advancement pathways.

Care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. May work under the supervision of a registered nurse. Licensing required.
