The mission of the Houston Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is to train and educate electrical and telecommunications workers and to provide the Electrical Construction Industry with the most highly trained and highly skilled workforce possible. The electrical apprenticeship course consists of a minimum of 8000 hours on-the-job training and 180 hours per year in the classroom for five years. The training will be conducted in accordance with Standards registered with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Admissions
Any high school graduate or person with a G.E.D. who is at least 18 years old, is physically fit and healthy, and has completed one year of high school algebra or equivalent with a passing grade can become eligible for apprenticeship. Applicants must pass the NJATC General Aptitude Test administered by the JATC. You do not need any prior experience in the electrical field.
