From day one of a cadet's journey to become a deputy, they are taught, mentored, and guided by HCSO instructors assigned to the Training Division. Law enforcement cadets attend a 32-week academy, while detention cadets attend a 22-week academy. Cadets attending the law enforcement academy are trained in firearms, driving, first-aid, and control tactics. They will learn the systems related to body-worn cameras, radio communications, and report writing. Detention cadets are also taught firearms, first-aid, control tactics, pod supervision, jail management, weapon systems, and radio communication systems.

Police and Sheriff's Patrol Officers
Maintain order and protect life and property by enforcing local, tribal, state, or federal laws and ordinances. Perform a combination of the following duties: patrol a specific area; direct traffic; issue traffic summonses; investigate accidents; apprehend and arrest suspects, or serve legal processes of courts. Includes police officers working at educational institutions.
