The Residential Carpenter Certificate program at Hazard Community and Technical College equips students with the foundational skills needed to enter the residential construction industry. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction, students learn techniques in framing, blueprint reading, safety standards, and the use of carpentry tools and materials. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in residential construction or to pursue further certifications in the field.

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
