Harford Community College uses the National Center for Construction Education and Research's (NCCER) curriculum to introduce students to the construction industry. They provide entry-level knowledge and skills for individuals wanting to enter the construction industry. Instruction includes basic safety, construction math, tools, construction drawings, material handling, employability skills, and more. For each module completed, students receive NCCER digital badges and those completing the entire program receive the NCCER Core badge. NCCER credentials are standardized, portable, and recognized across the construction industry, helping you display your abilities to employers nationwide.

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.
