Those applying to the MA to PN option, please indicate that on the top of the Practical Nursing application. This degree program prepares a student to provide safe and efficient nursing care. Health facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and public health nursing services employ practical nurses under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. The Practical Nursing program is a 90-credit program in which students must demonstrate academic proficiency by completing basic curriculum requirements prior to entry into the core sequence of nursing classes. A minimum grade of 2.5 or higher is required in each nursing and supporting course. (Exceptions for basic curriculum requirement courses with grades less than 2.5 will be made on a case-by-case basis by the Associate Dean of Nursing. Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2 courses are not eligible for consideration or any course with less than a 2.0 GPA.) Evidence of academic proficiency is established by completion of each of the following prerequisite requirements with a 2.5 grade or higher. Courses without an “&” may not be transferable.

Admissions
This option is designed for students who are already Medical Assistant-Certified and meet the following criteria:
- An active, unencumbered MA-C license in the state of Washington, proof of licensure must be included at the time of application
- Graduated from an approved MA-C educational program, transcripts must be included at the time of application
- Complete all Practical Nursing program pre-requisite coursework. A minimum grade of 2.5 or higher is required in each nursing and supporting course.
