The Steamfitters Industry Training Center offers a comprehensive education and training program for apprentices and journeypersons of Local 638. The Apprenticeship is a five-year program whereby apprentices attend classes on a two-week cycle, one day every two weeks for a full seven-hour day for which they are paid if they are employed. At our state-of-the-art Training Center, apprentices are educated in classroom theory on all types of piping systems in the industry including HVACR, Fire Protection, and Power Generation. In response to an ever-changing industry, instruction focuses on new technologies like Geothermal, Variable Refrigerant Flow, Chilled Beams, and other green technology systems.

Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems. Includes sprinkler fitters.
