This 40-hour course will provide the Oregon Property and Casualty pre-license candidate with current and up-to-date information in order to successfully prepare for the Oregon Property and Casualty examination. The course covers everything contained in the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation’s Candidate Information Bulletin and is broken down into easily understandable lessons. This updated course includes many illustrations, examples, and quizzes associated with the state insurance examination and provides a well-rounded approach to test preparation. The topics covered in the course begin with insurance regulation for P&C, which will introduce you to the basic laws and rules in the state. The next section of the course includes specific federal rules and regulations and a discussion of general insurance principles and concepts and will introduce the candidate to terms, definitions, and concepts that are the foundation of P&C insurance. The course continues with material on property and casualty basics, including concepts, definitions, and examples. Dwelling and homeowner insurance lessons are next on the schedule and will discuss both the property and casualty (liability) portions of the contracts. Personal and commercial automobile insurance is thoroughly explored, with commercial property and liability insurance following. Business Owner policies are detailed, as well as workers’ compensation insurance and other property and casualty policies, including surety, watercraft, recreational vehicles, and other important examination topics. The final lesson in this prelicense course is the laws and rules specific to P&C in Oregon.
