The Medical Coder Certificate provides students with the skills necessary to work in billing offices of hospitals, nursing homes and physicians’ offices. Students in this program are prepared to complete, review and process medical claims to help physicians and hospitals get reimbursed from insurance companies for services and facilities provided to patients. Individuals in this field also help prevent fraudulent medical claims and/or errors in payments and utilize the verbal skills needed to contact insurance companies regarding claims.
