The Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program is a four year term Apprenticeship that consists of 144 hours of class work per year. The journeyman status is granted when work opportunities are available, the apprentice completes a minimum of 4,000 hours of on-the-job training (over a four year period), successfully completes all related instructions, and has satisfactory monthly progress reports.

Carpenters
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation. Includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways.

Qualification Requirements Of The Program
- Be at least 18 at the time of acceptance into the program
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have dependable transportation
- Pass the qualifying test
- Doctor’s statement of physical ability
- Able to attend a two week Pre-Job Training
- Pass a drug test – drug use is not tolerated in the construction industry, where safety is a life and death issue
