This competency-based course provides students with technical instruction and practical experience in basic residential, commercial and earthquake retrofitting in construction using sustainable and green technology. Instruction includes an introduction, workplace safety, and reviews of resource management, trade mathematics, plumbing, Los Angeles Department Water & Power (DWP) infrastructure earthquake-resistant pipe replacement and drywall installation. It also covers the operation, maintenance, and storage of power tools.

Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems. Includes sprinkler fitters.

Admissions
Any person 16 years of age or older is eligible for enrollment. Those under 18 must have approval from their parent, home school, and ELAOC (East Los Angeles Occupational Center) Administration. Enrollment must be confirmed by attendance at the first class meeting. Under the continuous enrollment policy, vacancies at the first class meeting will be filled immediately.
