The Modern Dental Assisting: DA Level I Certification course at Dental Staff Institute consists of 104 hours of lecture/lab preparation and a 12-hour hands-on clinical externship in a general dental office with a practicing dentist. Learning consists of a combination of live lectures, remote lectures, and hands-on clinical coursework. The state of North Carolina recognizes all of the certificates issued. Students will be able to accept a position upon completion of the program. (Duration: 13 Saturday Sessions, 8am to 5pm)

Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.
