The Firefighter I and II Training Program consists of 297 hours of classroom and hands-on training covering all aspects of firefighting including fire behavior, building construction, engine and ladder company operations, auto extrication, fire prevention and fire attack with live fire training. Also included in the training are separate certifications for CPR/AED, a 16-hour Emergency Vehicle Driving Course, and 24 hours of Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations.
Fire gear including coat, pants, boots, helmet, hood, and gloves will be needed for the course. Fire gear must be NFPA 1971 compliant and within 10 years of manufacture date. Fire gear from a sponsoring agency or fire department is acceptable if it meets the above requirements, if you do not have a sponsoring agency gear must be rented from a third party. Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) from a sponsoring agency may be used or it can be rented from DACC.
