The Medical Coder Certificate Program is a 32-credit-hour program that prepares students with the technical skills and knowledge needed for successful entry-level coding positions in a variety of healthcare settings. The program provides training in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, computers and health information systems, legal and ethical aspects of health information, and coding and reimbursement methodologies. The curriculum also provides a foundation for students to prepare and complete the coding certification exams offered by AHIMA and AAPC.
This program is only offered at Dallas College's Brookhaven campus.
