The Dallas College Dental Assistant program is an approved continuing education program by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. The program consists of two courses completed in 11 weeks that will provide you with the entry-level skills required of a dental assistant in the workforce. The first course is a 9-week (11 hours per week), in-person lecture and laboratory simulation held at the El Centro Campus Paramount Building in downtown Dallas. The second course is a 2 week, 48-hour clinical externship, that is completed off-site. Reliable transportation is needed for both courses.

Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.
