Students must apply and be accepted to the program. It is recommended that students review the program Admission steps on the Nursing Department web pages. Additionally, potential students should meet with an Academic Advisor to verify they have all requirements met. PN Criteria for Admission: 18 years of age or older by the first day of the first Practical Nursing course. The program admission requirements include: NURC 1001 at Columbus State or received the Ohio State Tested Nurse Aid (STNA) issued within the last five year. Additional program admission requirements include a GED or HS transcript, 2.6 GPA and Good Academic Standing; if the applicant does not have a college GPA, then the student must have a high school GPA of 2.6 or an ACT composite score of 18 or above wthin the last four years. Students mmust place into CHEM 0100, BIO 0100, and ENGL 1100, or above. The HESI A2 (75% passing including Science) is required. Students have two attempts to take the HESI A2 to pass. Upon conditional acceptance, students must complete a drug screen and background check with no positive results prior to beginning the program.
