The Certificate Program in Medical Assisting is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), 1361 Park Street, Clearwater, Florida 33756, (727) 210-2350, www.caahep.org, on the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB)) of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE). Completion of this program qualifies the student to take the National Certification examination CMA-AAMA®-Certified Medical Assistant Exam. Graduates of the Medical Assisting programs at Chabot College will have an opportunity to apply for employment as Medical Assistants in an ambulatory care setting. Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied health professionals who can perform a variety of administrative and clinical skills.

Medical Assistants
Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

Admissions
- Classes begin each Fall Semester and there is no special application, however, space is limited to 25 students.
- When a class is full:
- Register for the waitlist for that class in Class-Web, and Go to the first session of each class with your priority number. All Fall classes must be successfully completed with a "C" or better for program progression.
- Prerequisites: Health 51A Full program courses are available in the program curriculum.
