The journey begins with the Applicant Preparation Program (APP), designed to prepare candidates and their families for the rigors of the CHP Academy and a career in law enforcement. Successful applicants attend the CHP Academy in West Sacramento, where they undergo 28 weeks of intensive training encompassing academics, physical conditioning, and practical law enforcement skills.
