Build San Diego in collaboration with AGC operates the state’s first and largest open-shop apprenticeship program. We are well respected throughout the industry due to the contractor management of our program and the skill, integrity, and responsibility that exemplify AGC members. Job duties:
- Heavy equipment operators drive, maneuver, and control the heavy machinery used to construct roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures.
- Safely and efficiently operate several types of power construction equipment with the latest technology such as (but not limited to), motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, etc.
- Skills needed include reading and understanding site plans and communicating with others on the job site

Operating Engineers and Other Construction Equipment Operators
Operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. May repair and maintain equipment in addition to other duties.
