The 100-hour Dental Assistant Program at Bucks prepares you for entry-level positions in one of the fastest-growing healthcare positions – Dental Assistant. The purpose of this course is to familiarize you with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. Our program may be free for those who qualify for funding via PA CareerLink. Scholarships may also be available. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment; introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas.

Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.
