Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning in partnership with SUNY Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) is now offering a virtual FREE 15-week intensive Medical Billing & E-Records class for the Spring 2024 cohort. BEOC is administered by the New York City College of Technology! Medical Billing and E-Records help build careers in the medical and health insurance fields.

Medical Records Specialists
Compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the healthcare system. Classify medical and healthcare concepts, including diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment, into the healthcare industry's numerical coding system. Includes medical coders.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: *Working towards your HSE equivalency diploma and must obtain your HSE by May 2024 in order to receive the Medical Billing or Assisting certification. *Have an interest in the healthcare profession *18 years of age or older *US citizen, permanent resident or refugee *NYS resident for at least one (1) year *Ability to meet placement test requirements (TABE) Minimum NRS 4+ *Low to moderate income *No college degrees and no more than 33 college credits earned - no exceptions *Foreign degrees may be honored *Must be fully vaccinated To register for the information session, please RSVP below. Be sure to create a Free Zoom account in order to participate. Once you register for the information session, you will receive an email one day before the session with additional information and a list of required documents you would need for enrollment. Space is limited; you must attend the information session to be considered. **Priority is given to students who are working towards their HSE diploma or enrolled in IELCE ESOL classes at BPL Adult Learning.
