Job Summary :
PIC Group is seeking an Electrical Technician to support a commissioning project for a 160MW gas plant in Colorado. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for pulling, installing, and securing medium and high-voltage cables while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high-voltage systems in a power plant or industrial environment and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced commissioning setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Pull, route, install, and secure medium and high-voltage cables as part of the commissioning process. Assist with the installation and termination of power cables in coordination with electrical engineers and site supervisors. Ensure proper cable labeling, routing, and compliance with project and safety standards. Perform conduit installation, install, and terminate conductors and cables of all voltages. Work closely with the commissioning team to support electrical testing, verification, and energization activities. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and project documentation. Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues related to cable installation and routing. Understand and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, OSHA regulations, and Arc Flash Protection (NFPA 70E). Use electrical test equipment, including voltage testers, multimeters, and megohmmeters, to verify electrical integrity. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all work meets quality control requirements.
Job Requirements :
Prior Experience with medium and high-voltage systems Prior experience working in power generation, commissioning, or industrial construction projects. Proficiency in electrical installation, conduit bending, cable pulling, and termination techniques. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical safety protocols. Ability to work in a fast-paced commissioning environment with minimal supervision. Experience with electrical test equipment, including voltage testers, megohmmeters, and circuit breaker testers. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with project stakeholders.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. Work in an industrial environment with exposure to various weather conditions. Perform tasks that involve standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling for extended periods. Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and work in extreme temperatures when required. Education /
Experience :
High School Diploma or GED 5+ years of electrical experience in industrial, power plant, or commissioning projects. OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $50-$55. •Please note that the compensation information follows a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. The actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
