An initial hourly wage of $22.00 an hour has been authorized for qualified candidates while attending the academy. Upon successful completion of the academy officers will move into the regular pay schedule at the starting rate of $31.59 per hour. The Jefferson Police Department is seeking candidates that want to be part of a team who is passionate about serving the community. Our team is currently in the rebuilding stage looking for others to contribute to the future development of the department. The department will invest in specialized training for those that prove they are committed to the team and the department. Jefferson is a growing community that supports its police officers and presents plenty of opportunity to interact with the public in its many parks, schools, and community sponsored events. Officers must reside within 30 miles of the city limits within 2yrs of employment, and 60 college credits must be obtained within 5 yrs of law enforcement standards board certification.
