Cimarron is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician with experience installing strain gages to support the development of launch vehicle hardware located in Decatur, AL. This position is expected to last 8 to 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Key Duties:
Interpret instrumentation drawings provided by the customer. Install strain gage sensors on various materials such as aluminum and composite in accordance with instrumentation drawings. Inspect and test strain gages to ensure they are properly bonded and in good health. Solder and route wires from strain gages. Perform continuity testing to ensure the gages are soldered correctly. Troubleshoot and repair damaged gages that may arise. Document work performed for each day. Coordinate with management to establish work priorities. Maintain a clean, safe, & organized work environment.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Ability to pass a physical examination (visual acuity, color perception, respiratory, and etc.) to meet production certification and safety requirements. 1 or more year(s) of related experience Must be able to work any assigned shift. Previous experience with soldering small components. Have a basic understanding of the purpose of strain gages. Previous experience in cable routing/harnessing. Ability to interpret engineering drawings derived from models. General shop skills including Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and contamination control. Knowledge and proficiency in a variety of measuring instruments, including micrometers, meters, calipers, and multimeters. Ability to work in a team environment and perform duties in an agile environment. General knowledge of production quality systems and requirements in daily operations. Must be well-versed in safety regulations including identifying, reporting, and correcting safety issues. High school diploma or equivalent.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
Formal or OTJ training of strain gage installation. Experience conducting wire harness installation tests including dielectric withstanding insulation, insulation resistance, and continuity. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methods and the ability to apply knowledge to streamline operations and eliminate waste. Previous electrical and wire harness certification to NASA standard
NASA-STD-8739.4.
