: 1871 Anchorage Port Road Example of Duties Under general supervision of the Port Engineer, perform paraprofessional work to include: preparing scopes of work for design and construction, assisting with the preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, contract documents, and permits, proposal reviews for contract work, writing contract change orders, work with the Port's GDIC contacts to manage and load information into port GIS databases. Review civil design documents and record drawings. Technical support includes data research and collection; fact finding; preparing of graphic and design illustrations; preparing work products (e.g. letters, memos, agreements, legal descriptions, reports); performing calculations; and preparing graphic presentations, all as directed. Assist in the administering and executing projects by conducting pre-construction, construction, and post-construction inspections of port capital improvement projects. Assist in the municipal project management, documentation, and approval process. Perform other required duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and three (3) y ears of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, code enforcement, and/or a related field, and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician I level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere. OR Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Computer Assisted Design (CAD), or a discipline specific to the department, a nd at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician I level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere. Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License. Preference Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline. State of Alaska Professional Engineer certification or working towards certification. Military Service Interview Preference:
