out of 5 stars Milwaukee, WI 53202 3-6 month contract with opportunity to extend or convert! The candidate can be located anywhere within an hour or so from major-international airport since national travel is involved. The Installer Ills a mid-level position in the telecommunications industry, responsible for executing field activities related to installation, maintenance, and servicing of telecommunications equipment. This role operates under supervision, primarily handling less complex products, while receiving guidance on more complex issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Understands and uses established safety practices. Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintains quality awareness and implements quality control processes. Perform cable installation, termination, labeling, and lacing, adhering to industry standards. Properly test and troubleshoot fiber/copper installations. Lead verification/continuity testing. Mount racks, frames, and shelves, ensuring all equipment is securely and correctly installed. Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non-working equipment only and switchboard cable only). Addition or removal of non-powered equipment/hardware. Successfully interpret drawings, plans, and specifications. Interpret the job plan and scope of work, as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure. Reads and stays current on installation documentation. Discuss media selection and implications for implementation on the network. Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices. Conducts work assignments, communicates, dresses, and assists customer in a professional manner. Inventory all job-related materials. May provide training to less experienced Installers when requested or required. May perform the duties of a Level III or Level IV Installer when directly supervised by properly qualified personnel. Managerial Responsibility No Direct Reports Travel/Shift Requirements Must be available to travel as much as 50% - 75% Travel may require overnight stays away from home for 1-2 weeks at a time, including weekends. Requires ability to work early morning shifts, occasional evening shifts and infrequent weekend work. Must have reliable transportation and be able transport minor job-related tools to work locations. Physical Demands Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and may be required to lift as much as 100Ibs on occasion. Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces. Work with and around electrical wires and ESD products in a safe manner. Ability to work onsite in central offices, construction, or installation sites. Requires fine motor skills and manual dexterity for gripping tools and assembling small components. Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, squat, lift, crawl, push, and pull. Skills and Abilities Required Proficiency in installing cables, racks, power systems, and grounding systems. Ability to perform equipment rack mounting, cable lacing, and termination. Read, interpret, and understand technical drawings and documentation. Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail by executing installations accurately and ensuring full compliance with industry standards. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues. Familiar with industry standards (AT&TTP-76300 /76409
/ Telcordia GR1275 and Verizon IP72202). Complete "Basic Installation" training course is required or equivalent on-the-job training. Successful completion of Safety, Business Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training. Possess a good understanding of the phases of the installation process. Aptitude and interest in technology with the ability to grasp and apply technical concepts. Basic knowledge of current Network products. Moderate knowledge of current Network products. Proficiency operating computers, tablets, and MS Office software. Good eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity and precision to work well with a variety of hand tools. Ability to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments. Track and record work hours on a timely basis using time-tracking software. Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance. Education and Experience Required High School Diploma or Equivalency. Minimum of 3 years of field service or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Installation Manager or Director. Exceptions may be made for individuals who successfully completed the previous level in Installer Academy Program. Demonstrate proficiency in relevant Network Elements (1, 2, 3, or 4). Management assessment and approval of proficiency in Level II Skills. Education and Experience Preferred 2 years of electronics training from a technical trade school or military.Job Types:
