Summary:
The Coding and Documentation Specialist, under the supervision of the Coding & Documentation Manager, is responsible for ensuring high quality accurate medical record documentation reviews, coding reviews, training, and education for Forefront physicians, NP's, PA's. This individual must have strong communication and critical thinking skills. Dedication to consistent professionalism and teamwork is required. Some travel required for on-site partner practice physician, NP, and PA EMR and coding training.Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Coding / Documentation /EMR Training Duties:
Maintains current knowledge and certification in dermatology medical coding and continuing education as applicable at all times. Maintains working knowledge of the physician, NP, and PA role in NextGen and EMA EHR Stays current with clinical documentation updates and changes in NextGen and EMA EHR Completes clinical documentation reviews for Forefront Dermatology's physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners following policy & procedure D/M-113 Monitoring of Medical Record Documentation and Coding. Performs re-reviews and follow-up coding sessions as a result of failed chart reviews. Completes pre-partnership clinic documentation and coding reviews for practices joining Forefront. Provides documentation and coding education during on-boarding process for practices joining Forefront. Performs new physician, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner coding, documentation, and EMR training upon hire (remote) or in preparation for EMR transition (provided in person in conjunction with on-site staff EMR training sessions). Includes post training Q & A support. Serves as a resource for company-wide coding questions and inquiries. Assists in updating and creation of coding team training materials and reference guides. Assists Central Billing Office with coding review on high priority claims. Attends 75% or more coding team meetings (remotely). Adherence to completion of all company- wide compliance training. Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Education:
Dermatology coding certification required- CDC, CPCD, or CPC. Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment. Experience with EMA / Modernizing Medicine EMR preferred. CPR Certification is required per licensing requirements as applicable.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be willing and able to travel occasionally. Must possess a valid Driver's License and a driving record that allows for insurability by Forefront Dermatology. Must possess excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills in order to provide a quality training experience. Ability to train using a variety of systems and methods. Must be adaptable to a variety of learning styles and capacities, with the ability to demonstrate a consistently calm, positive, and encouraging demeanor. Ability to provide effective, constructive, and positive feedback to trainees, and respond positively to constructive feedback from others. Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team. Must display a friendly cheerful, tactful and polite demeanor, and compassionate caring in dealing with others. Must demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional appearance and behavior. Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness. Must have proficient computer and typing skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.Physical Demands:
