Job Description

Do you thrive in a busy environment and are you able to multi-task successfully? If so, please apply today! We are seeking an Inpatient Coder to collaborate with our clients remotely.
Responsibilities:
Review documentation to code diagnosis and procedures. Communicate with physicians to obtain or clarify diagnosis and/or procedures via the query process. Assign accurate codes using an electronic encoder application in accordance with practice policy and regulatory guidelines. Perform Peer Reviews of Company Health Information Management coding auditors and coders. Maintain minimum accuracy rate of 98% while meeting internal productivity standards set by company. Maintain productivity expectations: inpatient 24 encounters per day, 3 encounters per hour, 20 minutes to code each encounter. Complete reports and other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in facility based inpatient coding.
Credentials:
CCS, RHIT, RHIA
(AHIMA) or
CPC, CPC-H
(AAPC) Level 1 Trauma coding and DRG experience. Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations. Capable of interpreting medical records reports and chart entries. Able to work independently and as a team member. Capable of applying judgement/decision making skills. Proficiency using MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to manage workload and multiple projects as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Knowledge of EPIC and 3M Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship now or at any time in the future.
Hourly Rate and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until April 11, 2025. The hourly rate for this position is between $27.00 - $37.50 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
